CPC Essay Prize Entries Are Due December 1st, 2014

Our Winning Essayist for 2012, Adele Tutter, also won the APsaA CORST Prize for 2012, and this year has been nominated for a Gravida Award, which is given out by the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis. Her essay, "Angel with a Missing Wing: Loss, Restitution, and the Embodied Self in the Photography of Josef Sudek," was published in 2013 in American Imago.Our Essay Prize Committee had this to say about "Angel With a Missing Wing."
Josef Sudek is considered the premier Czech photographer of the 20th century. Dr. Tutter's essay presents, feelingfully, and with keen psychoanalytic grounding, his use of his work in part to manage a complex group of losses. She demonstrates this understanding in her narrative and in a series of Sudek's photographs that carry great impact.
Following is our invitation to submit your essay for the 2014 CPC Essay Prize.
For Psychoanalytically Informed Essays in the Arts and Humanities, Bio-behavioral Sciences, Social Sciences
First Prize: $1000
The Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center is currently accepting submissions for our Essay Prize. The essay should not be more than 30 pages in length and should not have been published or submitted for publication. The Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center Essay Prize is open to anyone living or working in the State of Ohio, regardless of institutional status or affiliation.Applicants are requested to include their name on the cover letter only. Judges are blinded to authors' names. The winning essay will be presented at a meeting of the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center and we will support publication in a psychoanalytic journal.
Entries are due December 1, 2014 and should be electronically submitted to:
