The Education Committee has been asked an intriguing question: Will we accept applications from qualified Chinese for full clinical psychoanalytic training? To help us think about this, I have invited Elise Snyder, MD, from New York, to make a presentation at our Center. Elise is the director of CAPA, the China American Psychoanalytic Alliance. This is a well known virtual not-for-profit organization, operating through cloud technology, that has been running distance psychotherapy learning in China for a decade. Many APsaA analysts have been part of this effort, which is somewhat controversial. The apparent success of their approach has led CAPA to try to extend to actual analytic training.Dr Snyder is a former candidate for President of APsaA, and is well known to many of us from her years of service to psychoanalysis. She is funding her own trip with hospitality provided by some of our Cleveland psychoanalysts. The Center is providing a meeting place and refreshments for a morning Powerpoint and Q&A.I hope many of our extended community will attend this presentation, particularly those with experience and interest in distance learning. The EC will deliberate on the question about applications later in the fall.
