Additions to the PEP Database
Dear Colleagues,PEP has some new and exciting information about its new A1v14 release which is now launched. It includes PEP’s new banner with a new tag line: “A Psychoanalytic Library at Your Fingertips! Go to www.pep-web.org to view. You will see that PEP has added FIVE new journals, bringing the total number of journals to 56. The new journals are:
- APM Revista de Psicoanalisis (1985 – current)
- Attachment: New Directions in Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (2007 - current)
- British Journal of Psychotherapy (1984 – current)
- Romanian Journal of Psychoanalysis (2008 - current)
- Uluslararası Psikanaliz Yıllığı (IJP Turkish) (2009, 2010)
In addition to our new Journals, PEP has added a new feature, the Video Platform. The Video Platform is accessed on the same menu bar as Journals and Books. This PEP-Web video capability has added a first batch of videos, organized as Video Journals. Each Video is like an article in which the dialog for each video is transcribed, so the full text can be searched just like any other articles on PEP-Web. You can access any point of the video by selecting the corresponding text in the video widget and can link back to the PEP-Web Archive. The initial release of the PEP Videostream is at this time very limited in content. PEP is looking for and continually adding films to the Video Platform. Please check your Institutes’ Video Archive to see if you might have any appropriate video content to add. PEP is looking to bring together and preserve all existing audio visual material of interest and relevance to psychoanalytic thinking, practice and research, as well as to encourage the creation of new material. As a result, we expect the available material to grow rapidly and for the video archive to become a valuable resource for research, study and teaching. To find more about the PEP Video Project and contributing videos, go to http://www.p-e-p.org/pep_video.html.Applications for the first round of Video making grants closed in November 2013, and the successful projects will soon be announced on PEP. The next round of a $100,000 fund for Video Grants to make videos about psychoanalytic practice and thinking will be opening soon, so keep an eye on PEP!Other future feature upgrades for SE and GW paragraph concordance and an enhanced printing format are planned for summer 2014.Books on PEPPEP has developed a Book publishing policy and its main aim is to obtain the rights for book content that is heavily cited in PEP references, but not already a part of the PEP Archive. Adding new book content is in process but a slow one, as obtaining copyright is problematic. Most publishers withhold these rights and want to electronically publish themselves.PLEASE NOTE: Psychoanalytic authors, when negotiating contracts, should be aware they can try and maintain some of their electronic rights, even if limited to being on PEP Web in the future.Hope you enjoy the new PEP release.Best regards,The PEP BoardNadine Levinson, David Tuckett, Alice Brand Bartlett, Peter Fonagy, Nasir Ilahi, and Paul Mosher,
