Our colleagues in the psychotherapy community might be interested to hear of a trend in psychoanalytic education that we have observed in Cleveland. In the last two years, medical school graduates have outnumbered the non-medical school students in our Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program. Of the twelve students in our PPP courses, six are M.D.s and one is a D.O.The physicians in our classes represent various fields in medicine. In the second-year class, Brenda Altose M.D. is currently a practicing child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist who is board certified in adult psychiatry.George Bernstein M.D. is an emergency room physician at a Cleveland area Kaiser facility. Tom Eppright M.D. is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who practices at several area facilities. Przemyslaw (Les) Kapalczynski, M.D., who practices at Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare, is the 70th fellow to have trained under the notable forensic psychiatrist Phillip Resnick, M.D. at University Hospitals.Parikshit Deshmukh, M.D. graduated from University Hospitals Case Medical Center psychiatric residency and from our program in 2012. He practices in another state. In our first year class, students Pu Cheng, M.D. and Dimitios Tsatiris, M.D. are second-year psychiatry residents at University Hospitals Case Medical Center.Gabrielle Koczab, D.O.s is an osteopath in private practice in family medicine. If you would like to discuss the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program in further detail contact:Carl Rak, Ph.D., Chair, (216) 408-1180 E-mail: c.rak@csuohio.eduorKaren Wallis, LPCC, LCDC III, Coordinator, (216) 548-0523 E-mail: kvwallis@gmail.com
