We are the Tools of Our Trade How the Therapist’s Own Attachment Patterns Shape Therapy
Presented By: David Wallin, Ph.D.Date: Saturday, April 27, 2013Time: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PMLocation: Corporate College, 2400 Richmond Rd. 44128
Summary
With a new twist David Wallin, PhD takes attachment therapy from its niche in the parent child relationship and applies it to the process happening between psychotherapist and patient. Because we are the tools of our trade, our own attachment patterns strongly influence our effectiveness as therapists. Rather than our theories or techniques, it is who we are that ultimately determines our capacity to create with our patients a genuinely therapeutic relationship. Dr. Wallin is a lively and engaging speaker who combines a scholarly perspective with vivid case material and videos, as he explores with us how mindfulness of our own attachment patterns in the therapist-patient relationship can lead to new opportunities and insights for both patient and therapist.
