Elizabeth A. Lehfeldt, Ph.D. will present, "The Plague: Debunking the Many Myths and Stereotypes About the Black Death in Europe."

This talk will examine the work of medical practitioners during this period of epidemic disease. Ultimately, it will argue that by the standards of the time patients received rigorous and compassionate care.Elizabeth (Liz) Lehfeldt graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Lawrence University with a BA in History. She received her MA and PhD in History from Indiana University. Her first teaching position was at Cleveland State and she liked it so much she decided to stay for twenty years! She has published on the intersection of gender and religion in Europe from 1300-1700 and regularly travels to Spain and England for research.
