Norman Clemens, MDCleveland Psychoanalytic Center faculty  member, Norman A. Clemens, M.D., was the lead author of an article entitled "Obstacles to Early Career Psychiatrists Practicing Psychotherapy" (Clemens NA, Plakun EM, Lazar SG, Mellman L in Psychodynamic Psychiatry, 42(3): 479-496, 2014.) The special issue of the journal, entitled "Psychotherapy, the Affordable Care Act, and Mental Health Parity: Obstacles to Implementation", was written by the Psychotherapy Committee of the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry.Dr. Clemens coordinates the CPC basic introductory course for candidates on the principles and practice of ethics as they relate to the special characteristics of psychoanalysis and the psychoanalytic psychotherapies. In addition to candidates and early admission students, this course is open to members of the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center as continuing education.Dr. Clemens continues to write or edit bimonthly columns for the Journal of Psychiatric Practice, John Oldham, editor. Titles during 2014 are "The Idol Beneath the Altar" (Journal of Psychiatric Practice 2014;20:138–140), "What is Psychoanalytic about Medicine, and what is Medical about Psychoanalysis?"
