Envy and Gratitude cover

Javier Galvez, M.D. recommends Priscilla Roth, Alessandra Lemma, and R. Horacio Etchegoyen, editors, "Envy & Gratitude Revisited."

Dr. Galvez writes:
Fifty years  after the  publication of Klein's seminal "Envy and Gratitude," an outstanding group of contemporary analysts, including Ronald Britton, Irma Benman-Pick, Michael Feldman, John Steiner, Peter Fonagy and Henry Smith offer their perspectives both in terms of theory and technique as well as from a developemental viewpoint on these fundamental human experiences. An utterly rich book to be read and studied.

There is a copy of this book in the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center Library.

Mary Ellen Kollar recommends Verghese, Abraham,   Cutting for Stone, a Novel. Cutting for Stone cover The Plain Dealer wrote of Verghese’s first novel, “Verghese displays the virtues so evident in his bestselling and much-lauded memoirs. He has a knack for well-structured scenes, a passion for medicine and a gift for communicating that passion.”"Cutting for Stone"  is a family story, about fathers, mothers and sons; about abandonment, adoption, and reunion. It is also a tribute to the medical profession and how special doctors recruit and mentor others.  Most of the story takes place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where the diverse ethnic, political and religious backgrounds of the main and secondary characters intensify the narrative.
